Missing Class

If you miss more than two consecutive class meetings of a course for health or other reasons, you should contact the instructor to arrange for making up missed work. It is especially important to discuss your situation with your instructor if you miss several class meetings, if you miss an exam or oral presentation, or if you are unable to turn in class assignments on time.

If you are feeling ill, your first priority should be to go to NU Health Services or to an urgent care in Evanston. If your illness will prevent you from attending class for several days or from taking an assessment, you can ask the doctor to put an excuse note in your online chart. Then you can follow the process for academic work missed for medical reasons.

If you know that you will be absent from classes for a week or more due to a family emergency or other non-medical situation, contact your College Adviser, who can help determine next steps.
